A Great Awakening (Available on EST & PVOD May 5, 2026)

SYNOPSIS: From Sight & Sound Films comes the true story of the unlikely friendship between Reverend George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin, and the defining role it played in the American Revolution. With the colonies on the brink of collapse, Rev. Whitefield’s thunderous sermons ignite the first Great Awakening, uniting a generation with his proclamation of liberty. Franklin, a religious skeptic, is impressed by Whitefield’s power to rouse people to freedom’s cause, and prints the reverend’s sermons in The Pennsylvania Gazette, awakening true liberty in Americans’ hearts.

Director: Joshua Enck Writers: Jeff Bender, Jonathan Blair, Joshua Enck

Cast: John Paul Sneed, Jonathan Blair, among others

This film was available in the Austin Regal Cinemas in April and is an interesting combination of history (Benjamin Franklin), religion (Reverand George Whitefield) and drama. It was more enjoyable than I had anticipated. Rated PG -13
