The Austin Jewish Film Festival returns with some of the most important Jewish and Israeli films curated from around the world, Q&A events with filmmakers, and parties, all taking place at the Dell Jewish Community Center in Northwest Austin. The 23rd Austin Jewish Film Festival offers two options to participate – one in person from October 30 to November 19, 2025, followed by an online section from November 14 to 23. According to the website, “We are also expecting all films to be available online in our virtual section which will run from November 14–23.” The full schedule is available on the austinjff.org website.
Highlights of the 2025 festival lineup begins with the opening night film Once Upon My Mother, a French-Canadian dramedy and others include a documentary, Nina, about an athlete, Nina Gorodetsky, who is a wheelchair badminton champion, with filmmaker Ravit Markus in attendance; and The Sea, a drama about a 12-year-old boy from a Palestinian village and is the winner of 5 Israeli Academy Awards. The film will be Israel’s submission to the 2026 Oscars.
Closing day highlights include the documentary Centered: Joe Lieberman, with Lieberman’s Senate Chief of Staff, Clarine Nardi Riddle, coming to Austin to help present the movie, followed by a controversial film from the Toronto International Film Festival that ultimately won the Audience Choice Award, The Road Between Us, with filmmaker Barry Avrich in attendance.
